This is the second review this week on items from Carl’s Jr. For this review, I look at the somewhat recently released Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich. The full details for the ice cream sandwich are below:

I was explaining yesterday how I went how to Carl’s Jr. and saw this bright, shiny sign calling out to me to order a new Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich Crispy Sandwich and Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich:

Carl’s Jr. Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Tender Sandwich and Hand Scooped Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich
I already covered the Bacon Swiss Crispy Chicken Tender Sandwich in my review yesterday. Today is all about tasty cookie crumbly Oreo encasing hand scooped vanilla ice cream. Here it is in its little plastic delivery bag:
The plastic bag opens easily and helps to renforce in your mind that this was indeed hand scooped and packaged by someone earlier in the day. After taking it out of its shell, I placed it on a plate to view:
What can I say – I love Oreo cookies, especially the cookie part. I’ve always wanted to eat them without the frosting. This is even better because the cookie part is actually a bit larger than a regular Oreo, and also a bit more chewy like you’d expect of a bigger cookie. Top it off with the creamy vanilla ice cream that the servers dish out in large portions and you have a recipe for success.
After taking my first bite, I quickly devoured the rest of the ice cream sandwich. I almost with I’d ordered two of them because was so good! The only remaining evidence:
The Verdict
***** stars (5/5 – excellent)
The Good
Extra large, chewier Oreo cookies with scoops of creamy vanilla ice cream in the middle. The Oreo flavor definitely wins me over on this one – this is not an ordinary ice cream sandwich.
The Not So Good
I didn’t have two of them.
Recommendation
You must try this, even if you don’t particularly like ice cream desserts. If you like Oreo Cookies you absolutely have to get one of these! I remember when this was a promo item; there is a reason Carl’s Jr. kept it as a part of the regular menu.
This week I will be posting two reviews on items from Carl’s Jr. In this first review, I tackle the new Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich Crispy Sandwich. The full details for the sandwich are below:
| Restaurant | Carl’s Jr. |

| Cost | $3.59 |
| Coupon | [Yes - 5/2/2012] – $1 off any size combo |
When I was on my way to Carl’s Jr. today, I had one thing on my mind: $1.29 Spicy Chicken Sandwich. I was however persuaded to try something new when this sign caught my eye:

Carl’s Jr. Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Tender Sandwich and Hand Scooped Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich
How could I pass up such delicious crispy-ranchy-bacony goodness!? And, of course this reminded me of the Bacon Swiss Crispy Chicken (which I think has disappeared from some locations – although I could be wrong). Seeing the Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich sealed the deal so I ordered both to-go and was on my way.
The servers at Carl’s Jr. had wisely given me a warm bag and cold bag to keep each item the right temperature. Such little things can make all the difference when you order to-go all the time. I’ll leave the Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich review for tomorrow and focus on the main event – the Bacon Swiss Crispy Hand-Breaded Chicken Sandwich Crispy Sandwich!
The sandwich came in a chicken promo wrapper, marked with the bacon tag. Yea, that’s right..bacon – oh yea. After unwrapping the sandwich it looked like this:
Everything looked good so far. Two hand-breaded chicken breast strips. Check. Ranch, swiss cheese, and bacon. Check. Lettuce, tomato, bun delivery mechanism. Check. I decided to dig in.
The Verdict
**** stars (4/5 – very good)
The Good
I really liked the flavor combinations going on here – ranch, crispy chicken breast, bacon. The chicken strip texture gave it a really nice crunch when you were biting into the sandwich.
The Not So Good
I think the sandwich could really be better with a third chicken strip; there were some bites that were void of chicken.
Recommendation
If you like chicken sandwiches, try it! Especially since there is a dollar off coupon available on the Carl’s Jr. website. I will likely be adding it to my regular rotation should it stick around on the regular menu.
Welcome to the first post for Fast Food Feeds. My name is Bobby Oster and I love fast food. Most of the time I’m mildly chastised by my friends for my love of it. Perhaps it’s because I’m getting older and am supposed to have grown out of it..but I didn’t – I love fast food. That’s not to say it’s the only thing I eat. I just have a fond appreciation for it.
Which brings me to this blog. This is a place where I will share the latest news, reviews, and general information about fast food. I can’t help but try out new products when they come out (I’m a fast food marketers dream) and will document the taste testing on the site.
I hope you too enjoy fast food as much as I do and I look forward to eating and sharing more.
